Islamic Perspectives

Based on what we believe, any good values are Islamic values. In films, especially films that have been borne by Hollywood, most of the time, the films are perceived as immoral or not so suitable for Malaysian context. Nevertheless, regardless of the major themes outlining the movie, there are also values that can be learned from each movie. Thus, the good values learned can be made parallel to the way of Islamic thinking. When we show people that Islam is abundant with good values, those people who are not so familiar will come to realize that Islam is not as what that has been perceived upon, especially as in the mainstream media.

Other than that, as young Muslims, it is our duty to dispel such misconceptions about Islam. We should use our knowledge on Islam and we should also utilize our English skills in countering such notions about Islam. Through the misconceptions portrayed about Islam in films, we will try to counter those misconceptions and bring about relevant and the real facts and truth about Islam instead. That is where our foregrounding comes in. We foreground the hidden messages that normally talks bad about Islam and then we counter those ideas, with our knowledge.
